About

It all started when two young Colombian women arrived in Canada on a dark night in late December. It was -25°C and they had never seen snow before.

The impact of this particular immigrant story rocked me to my core. As a Canadian, culture is something I’m familiar with—something I grew up with, in fact. I was raised with a deep sense of pride and respect for my Ukrainian heritage, but I never fully understood what it meant to leave everything behind to start over in a new country.

What started as a story I listened to eventually turned into a dream to write a novel about an immigrant family and all the challenges they faced. It wasn’t until much later that I was encouraged to start a podcast that acknowledged immigrants and their stories.

This is how Immigrants of Canada was born. I hope you feel encouraged and inspired by all the amazing individuals that make up our beloved country.
